For this childless couple, I designed a serene and sophisticated retreat within their home, tailored to their lifestyle and shared passions. The brief focused on creating a calming yet timeless space where they could unwind, indulge in their love of reading, engage in meaningful conversations, and enjoy a favourite TV show together.
Understanding the Vision
The project began with a clear vision: to create a serene retreat for a childless couple seeking a calm, inviting space to unwind and connect. Inspired by their desire for tranquillity, the foundation of the design focused on a tonal palette of soft, neutral hues. This colour scheme was chosen to evoke a sense of peace and balance, providing a timeless backdrop for the rest of the room's elements.
Once the colour palette was established, the next step was to introduce layers of texture to add warmth and interest. Plush upholstery, soft throws, and subtly patterned wallpaper created a tactile experience that enhanced the room's inviting ambiance. The selection of furniture and finishes ensured a seamless blend of style and comfort, balancing practicality with aesthetic appeal.

Lighting was the final, yet vital, element in bringing the design to life. A carefully curated mix of ambient lighting, a statement chandelier, and functional fixtures added dimension and functionality to the space. Metallic accents, such as a slimline console table and a gilded mirror, were paired with the sleek fireplace to complete the look.
